So, yes. Prince Edward Island (PEI) is a real place. This was a shock to me as well, but also really exciting because I want to visit one day.
So if you look at this map, PEI is a province of Canada that's northeast of Maine, and sort of nestled between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
PEI is the smallest province both in land area and population, but it's also the most densely populated. The capital and largest city is Charlottetown. Its primary economy is in farming, which holds true to what we see in Anne of Green Gables with Matthew and all the other farmers.
